The Manurewa Sports Centre has been a cornerstone of the community for 15 years, hosting a wide array of local sporting events and activities. It serves as the primary hub for local sports clubs and community groups, fostering a vibrant and active Manurewa.

The Trustees are looking for new members to help steer our future direction. The Board of Trustees are seeking to appoint up to three Board members who reside in the Auckland region for vacancies on the board.
Skills and competencies sought
All candidates should have governance experience, be well versed in the difference between operations, management and governance and have strong strategic and interpersonal skills. Specifically, we are looking for candidates who demonstrate the following:
- Strong experience and a successful track record in the strategic, fiduciary and responsibilities of governance.
- Candidates who can support us in developing stronger relationships with Mana Whenua and better reflecting the role of te ao Māori in our facility and community.
- A genuine interest in and passion for the Manurewa Community, Manurewa Sports Centre and its vision, strategy, and objectives.
- Have a sound understanding of Accounting Principles and practices.
- Be able to articulate how their own values align with the Trusts values and guiding principles
- Ability to collaborate and be a good team member
- We would welcome applications from first time trustees, particularly in the 30-45 age grouping and will support appointees early in their governance careers, with governance training
- Impeccable standards of personal and professional integrity
- Sound judgement and a strategic mind-set
- Ability to think critically and interpret varied sources of information and data to identify the salient points
- Have the time available to undertake the duties of a Trustee and reside in the Auckland region.
- Demonstrate a connection to Auckland’s diverse communities, active interest in and contribution to community-based organisations during their careers, and a commitment to uphold the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
In addition to the above, for this recruitment round we are seeking candidates who can provide one or more of the following:
- Legal experience in the domains of business, entertainment, or governance
- Finance accounting and audit experience
- Networks and influence in central and local political environments.
- Business community and cultural connections
A background in the entertainment or sports environment would be advantageous.

This is a voluntary role, however reimbursement for agreed expenses may be available. The time commitment is expected to be around 2-4 hours per month.
